GTC - Global Trade Center Nairobi - New Form of City Center
GTC Nairobi (Global
Trade Center) is developed to inspire new perspectives for the city of Nairobi,
redefining lifestyles and asserting itself as a stoic landmark.
The first
city center in the history of mankind, La Defense, was developed in Paris in
the 1950’s. In 1958, buildings began coming up and replacing the drab old
factories and unpleasant shanties. Slowly, the skyline of Paris began to
change. Similar looking buildings began emerging, most of them no taller than
100m.
Like old
Paris, GTC Nairobi (Global Trade Center) is altering the Nairobi skyline,
introducing new heights never reached before and greater capacities never
experienced before.
With ever burgeoning
demand, there was a second surge of construction in Paris that blossomed in the
1970’s. This was almost crippled by the economic difficulties experienced at
that time. In the 1980’s, a third generation of buildings began to appear and
by this time, La Defenses’ place in history has been sealed.
Although
construction nearly stagnated in the mid nineties, La Defense continues to
expand and is now the largest multipurpose business district in Europe
The debut of
La Defense injected new vitality into the old Paris, introducing new living and
commercial operation models into the world and inspired new possibilities for
city development. La Defense has thus initiated the brand new exploration of
city center models.
For the first time in East Africa, the
functions of business, residence and office operations will be integrated into
one city center, the Global Trade Center Nairobi. They will include GTC Tower, GTC Executive Residence, GTC Boutique Mall, JW MarriottHotel at GTC Nairobi
Indeed, the
value of a city is defined by its center!
